Future events:

1. 27th AIPNA ICP CME 2022: will be held on 4-6th february 2022. The CME is being organized by Dr Sudha Iyengar Professor of Pathology at Gajra Raja Medical College Gwalior. The AIPNA coordinator is Dr Srinivas Mandavalli. Excellent faculty from various universities & clinics of New York, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Massachusetts, Ohio, Connecticut, Virginia & California will be joining in Interactive Sessions at the Virtual conference with a unique experience. For Residents there is an Oral Paper & E-Poster Presentation Competition with cash awards in each category. Last date for abstracts for Oral Paper submission is 15/11/2021 and E-Poster is 15/12/2021.

2. 5th ICP oration in memory of Dr K S Ratnakar will be taken by Dr Jyotirmay Biswas "delivered" sounds better

NEWS 2021

1.The ICP convocation was held during the inaugural ceremony of the IAPM national conference ( APCON ) at Raipur on the 3rd December 2021. Congratulations to the seven highly accomplished new fellows who joined the Indian College of Pathologists - Dr Nitin Gangane, Dr MC Sharma ,Dr Bharat Rekhi, Dr K Chandramouleeswari, Dr Kamal V Kanodia , Dr Kavita Mardi and Dr Kirti Gupta. A total of 19 candidates were awarded PDCC degrees by the Dean ICP Dr Bishan Radotra in the presence of the honorable Governor of Chattisgarh HE Shrimati Anusuiya Uikey. Eight candidates were awarded PDCC Oncopathology, four renal and transplant pathology and 7 were awarded PDCC Hematopathology.

2. The 14th ICP oration was delivered by Dr Sudha Sane on the 4th of December 2021 during the APCON conference at Raipur. The oration was held in the memory of Dr R K Gadgil who was introduced for his remarkable and original work in parasitoloy by Dr D N Lanjewar who chaired the session along with Dr Bishan Radotra Dean ICP. Dr Radotra introduced the speaker who retired from Grants Medical college Mumbai and had aptly worked in the field of parasitology and also published a book on the subject. Dr Sane delivered a wonderful oration with a series of unusual and rare cases illustrated beautifully. The oration was conducted by the hon secretary of ICP Dr Nuzhat Husain and Prof Francisco Couto the incoming dean delivered the vote of thanks.

3. 26th AIPNA ICP CME was held for the first time in the history of the meetings online. The meeting was hosted by Amrita Inst. of Medical Sciences on the 4th to 6th Feb in the evening from 5pm to 10pm.A record 890 attendees including faculty attended the meeting. The meeting was a seamless uninterrupted online meeting which was hugely appreciated by all. The highlights of the meeting included:

  1. Online poster sessions with awards. The awardees also got an opportunity to present both the case series and case reports.
  2. We had prior digitalised slides to view in 3 slide seminars.
  3. Archived access for delegates.

The talks put up in the conference were apt and fabulous. Every speaker did a stupendous job. A special thanks to AIPNA and ICP teams for a thoughtful scientific programme. Its been a beautiful camaraderie between AIPNA and ICP, add to that the hosts with team Amrita at Pathology dept and let's not forget the virtual platform IT team for excellent coordination and above all the icing on the cake : the never flinching superb faculty and ever enthusiastic attendees who came in large numbers.The ICP acknowledges the hard work and efficient management by Dr Aiit Nambiar and his team comprising of Dr Seethalekshmy NV, Dr Malini Eapen, . 4. The ICP fellow’s meet 2021: The first ever Virtual ICP (Indian College of Pathologists) Fellows Meet, organized under the aegis of KCIAPM (Karnataka Chapter- Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists), was a unique get together bringing the distinguished Fellows of all times on the Sunday evening, the 24th January, 2021, 4:30 – 10:00 PM IST. The event was attended by 55 Registered ICP Fellows and the Executive committee members or KCIAPM.The event was organized with warmth, great efficiency and IT precision by Dr Usha Kini, organizing chairperson, Dr Vijayshankar Organizing secretary, Dr Aditya Agnihotri Joint organizing secretary and Dr Thejasvi K Treasurer. The event began with an address by the dean Dr Bishan Radotra followed by a symposium on "Liquid Biopsy - Changing the way we manage cancer" by Dr Anurag Mehta and his team comprising of Drs Moushami S, Amit Verma, Ullas Batra and Nuzhat Husain. A spirited debate on "Printed textbooks are becoming obsolete before they are published" took place between Dr Sandhya Sundaram who spoke for the motion and Dr Harsh Mohan who spoke against the motion. Dr Anita Borges moderated the session, with a pre and a post-debate poll, won by Dr Harsh Mohan. The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. S R Shivayogi Bhusnurmath who spoke on "Vision for a digital platform for Pathology education in India" An unconventional Fireside Chat titled "All roads lead to Room 000"was presented by Dr Kalpana Swaminathan and Dr. Ishrat Syed, Paediatric Surgeons and authors of the book “Room 000: Narratives of the Bombay Plague”. The concluding session moderated by Dr. D N Lanjewar provided a platform for all delegates to reconnect, share ideas and reminiscence the past.

December 2019: 13th ICP Oration 2019 The 13th ICP Oration 2019 was held on 1st December 2019 during the APCON 2019 Conference at PGIMER, Chandigarh. The Oration was held in the memory of memory of Prof.Dr.Thangavelu and was delivered by Prof.Dr. KP Aravindan Medical Director& Senior consultant Pathologist, MicroHealth Laboratories, Kozhikode and ex Professor & Head, Dept of Pathology, Govt Medical College,Calicut. The oration led the audience through an enthralling depiction of …. and was thought provoking, stimulating at a perfect pace and timing.

Feb 2019 24th ICP AIPNA CME was held at AIIMS Bhopal in Feb 2019 Under the leadership of Prof Sarman Singh Director, AIIMS Bhopal and Prof Neelkamal Kapoor Head Of Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal organized a successful annual three day International CME from 1st to 3rd February 2019. ICP –AIPNA AIICME is a joint venture between Indian College of Pathologists (ICP) and Association of Indian Pathologists in North America (AIPNA). In this 3 day long academic feast, speakers of International and National repute enlightened the keen audience. The CME covered various pertinent clinically relevant topics and recent updates in Hematology, Gastrointestinal, Urogenital, Endocrine, Salivary gland, Bone and Soft tissue pathology through didactic talks, case based discussions/slide seminars. CME gathered around 300 pathologists from India and abroad with a total of 33 Oral Paper and 72 Podium Poster Presentations by young and budding pathologists. Dr Anita Borges, eminent Indian Surgical Pathologist was felicitated by members of ICP-APINA with Life Time Achievement Award 2018. Being one of its kinds International CME in central India, this conference brought not only new insight and knowledge to the subject, but also collaborations and friendships between Pathologists across the globe. It also created a buzz in the local media showcasing the work of pathologists. Unstinting support of office bearers of ICP and AIPNA and eminent pathologists like Prof NiragJhala, Prof Ashraf Khan, Prof BD Radotra, Prof D N Lanjewar, Prof Deepak K Mishra, Prof SiddharthDatta Gupta, Prof Vatsala Mishra, Dr Francisco Couto and many more was crucial to the success of the CME.
